New flagship care home to be built in Aberdeen following Meallmore’s £64m funding deal
One of Scotland’s largest independent care home operators is expanding following a £63 million funding package from HSBC UK.
Inverness-based Meallmore will use the bank’s support to construct a new flagship care home in Aberdeen, creating over 80 jobs in the area upon completion.
Residents living at the 65-bed luxurious care home in Pitfodels, Aberdeen, will have access to a cinema, café, private dining room, bedrooms with private balconies, hair/nail salon and mature landscaped gardens.
The funding follows a £41m deal with HSBC UK in 2020 which enabled Meallmore to refurbish several of its care homes as well as construct a new home in Dumbarton.
Cillian Hennessey, managing director at Meallmore, said: “Our collaboration with HSBC UK is a key milestone in Meallmore’s expansion journey, reflecting our dedication to Scotland’s care sector.
“This partnership with HSBC UK not only demonstrates our robust financial stability but also reinforces our commitment to meaningful community investment. It’s a strategic move that fuels our vision for future growth, enhancing our ability to positively impact communities with personalised care services.”
Neal Tully, global relationship director at HSBC UK, added: “Meallmore has consistently delivered crucial care services to elderly and vulnerable people across the country. We’re thrilled to further support their expansion plans which will create jobs and enable them to offer high quality care to more people across Scotland.”
Meallmore Limited operates 26 care homes across all regions of Scotland. The company specialises in dementia care, nursing care, specialist adult care and respite and short stay care.
