New Gorbals Housing Association launches new tenant portal

New Gorbals Housing Association (NGHA) has successfully launched a new digital service for tenants.
MyNewGorbals allows tenants to complete a number of tasks online, such as check their rent account and balance, pay rent, report repairs, make complaints and more. In addition, tenants are able to view documents such as recent emails and letters sent from the Association.
The service is accessible from mobile phones, tablets and computers, anywhere, anytime. It offers tenants more opportunity to connect with the housing association and self-serve their tenancy needs at a time that is convenient to them.
MyNewGorbals launched on Wednesday 2nd April 2025 and saw 10% of tenants sign up within the first 48 hours. In the first three weeks, more than 500 tenants have registered to use the new platform.
Gregor Colville, head of housing services at NGHA, said: “I am delighted with the uptake of MyNewGorbals so far. It’s important for the Association to be able to reach tenants, and have them reach us, in a way that is practical and convenient for them.
“MyNewGorbals gives our tenants the freedom to access their tenancy information outwith office hours, wherever and whenever suits them. At the same time, it will help us reduce paper use and call time, allowing staff to work more efficiently.”

The portal is an additional communication tool for tenants, with no reduction in traditional communication methods. The office and telephone lines will continue to operate the same hours for those who are not digital or prefer in-person contact. Tenants are also encouraged to continue to use the emergency repairs line for any emergencies occurring outside typical office hours.
The overall feedback from tenants has been positive, with one saying, “I really liked being able to see everything and to know when rent due.”
Another tenant was pleased with the transparency of charges available to view on the portal: “I especially like the breakdown of the service charge as I know for myself and others in the area, we’re never really sure what the amount of charges is and exactly what it’s used for, so I think that’s good.”
MyNewGorbals is set to evolve as the year progresses, adding more functionality like forms and surveys. It is hoped that this will further decrease the use of paper, helping NGHA to reduce environmental impact, as well as garnering more important feedback from tenants.
