New homes for Hillcrest proposed for Dundee hotel site
New plans have been submitted on behalf of Hillcrest Housing Association for 18 flats at the site of a former Dundee hotel.
The Park House Hotel, on Coupar Angus Road, was demolished last year following an application submitted by Kylle McColl of chartered architects ARKTX.
The practice has now lodged proposals for a residential development with all accommodation built to Housing for Varying Needs standards. Car parking places will be reduced from 35 to 18, while 547sq/m of communal amenity space will be created, to be managed by Hillcrest.
In a planning statement, the architects wrote: “This new apartment block has been carefully and sympathetically broken down into tangible parts which respect the scale of the surrounding buildings. Where the original building presented an unsightly car park to the passing public roadway (the public and ‘active’ frontage of the site) the proposed development forms a courtyard to the rear where the majority of the car parking is hidden. The courtyard also provides an attractive semiprivate community space for residents.”
