Everyone in Scotland will soon have more say on how local funds are used, with at least 1% of local government budgets to be allocated via community budgeting by 2021.

Thanks to the Scottish Government’s Aspiring Communities programme, All In will deliver an 18-month programme of free workshops and training to help nine communities get ready for the changes.

Councillor David McDonald, depute leader of Glasgow City Council, said: “Community budgeting is central to the City Government’s commitment to put communities at the heart of everything we do – it is an important and exciting way for local people to get involved. This project will make a head-start to help Glasgow’s key communities get briefed about community budgeting, what it means and how to get the most out of it.”

‘Get Ready, Steady to Go with Community Budgets’ will initially be delivered in Glasgow’s Thriving Places: Govan; Parkhead & Dalmarnock; Priesthill & Househillwood; Ruchill & Possilpark; Easterhouse; Greater Gorbals; Drumchapel; Lambhill & Milton; Springboig and Barlanark. As part of the initiative All In will work with local schools, introducing the ideas behind community budgeting and setting aside £9,000 to be allocated by students.
