New strategy launched by North East tenants and landlords
A collective of tenants, residents, registered social landlords and local authorities in the North East celebrated the launch of a strategy and action plan over lunch with social housing tenants, residents, staff and partners.
NETRALT (North East Tenants, Residents and Landlords Together) was created to promote and support tenant participation in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray.
Carol Hannaford, NETRALT chair and development officer tenant and resident participation at Aberdeen City Council, welcomed guests and outlined NETRALT’s successful approach to working in partnership.
Speakers included Catherine Coutts, NETRALT secretary and tenant participation officer at Castlehill Housing Association, and Katie Taylor, participation lead at Grampian Housing Association.
Catherine explained how the strategy was developed using the Ketso method to capture the diverse range of ideas and views from tenants, residents and staff.
She said: “We are thrilled to celebrate the launch of our strategy and share our plans with the wider community. This strategy will help propel NETRALT even further and help us provide the ultimate in tenant participation throughout the North East.”
Katie told the packed room about NETRALT’s innovative tenant-led mystery shopping project which is a finalist for the upcoming TIS Awards in June. Several tenants who had taken part in the training workshop were awarded certificates which were presented by NETRALT member, Sandy Allan, tenant participation development officer at Aberdeenshire Council.
Celia Tremain was delighted with her certificate adding that “mystery shopping is a great way of ensuring that the service provided by Associations is always the best it can be”.
