Newlands development wins praise from new homeowners
Marilyn and Theresa, a pair of new homeowners at Calderwood Lodge, formerly primary school in south Glasgow, have express their delight at staying in the energy-efficient, low-maintenance homes.
“We have lived in Newlands for over 30 years and Calderwood Lodge presented the ideal opportunity to stay in an area that we love while enjoying the benefits of moving to a more environmentally friendly, well-finished and low-maintenance home,” they said.
The development has transformed the site of the former Calderwood Lodge Primary School in Newlands into 20, two- and three-bedroom luxury properties.
Led by private housing developer CCG Homes, the development comprises a mix of new build construction and historical conservation with the latter involving the restoration and upgrade of a Victorian sandstone villa built on the site over 120 years ago.
The villa is now split into 4, two and three-bedroom apartments which retain period features whilst being upgraded to have the performance and amenities of a new build property.
Marilyn and Theresa added: “Having lived in a period property for such a long time, we were very much used to the large amount of space and light you gained from their design and it would have been difficult to sacrifice should we have opted for a new build home. However, the ‘Heritage’ building gave us the best of both worlds.
“We particularly feel the benefits of modern insulation standards and are enjoying not having to worry about maintaining a garden and other jobs that used to take up a lot of our time.”
Commenting on the development, CCG Homes managing director Calum Murray said: “We always take great pleasure in receiving kind words from our purchasers and I am delighted that they have settled in well over the winter period.
“Calderwood Lodge is a unique development and as we head into the warmer months, it will undergo further transformation with our wonderful landscaping complemented by the neighbouring Newlands Park returning to colour.
“It is a beautiful area all year round and I am sure the location, alongside our specification, will uniquely place Calderwood Lodge in the minds of new buyers this spring.”
