‘Next evolution of Social Bite’ to open in Edinburgh tomorrow
An Edinburgh restaurant described as the “next evolution of the Social Bite concept” is set to open its doors on Saturday.
Home, located on Queensferry Street in the Scottish capital’s West End, is the product of collaboration between Social Bite founder Josh Littlejohn and Dean Gassabi of Maison Bleue.
The restaurant will provide training and employment programmes for homeless people, encourage diners to “pay forward” meals for homeless people, and the profits will be shared between Social Bite and other charities and causes.
From 3pm-5pm every Monday, the restaurant will hold a special service for feeding those sleeping rough on Edinburgh’s streets.
Mr Gassabi said: “I had already secured these premises for a new Maison Bleue restaurant when Josh came to me with the proposal for Home and it was such a fantastic idea we agreed to go ahead immediately.”
He added: “This venture with Social Bite is a fantastic way for us to put something back, including helping the homeless community.”
Mr Littlejohn added: “Home is a unique place and we’re incredibly excited to be opening up the doors this weekend. It’s a place where you can get a first-rate meal at the same time as helping some of the most vulnerable people in society.
“It’s a natural evolution of what we’ve been doing at Social Bite and I hope people support it in the same way.”
