North Lanarkshire Council announces ‘Housing Matters’ events
North Lanarkshire Council has announced a series of ‘Housing Matters’ events, where participants will have the opportunity to find out about the latest developments within the service and the delivery of future services.
Two events have been confirmed: South session, Saturday 3 November at Gartlea Community Centre, Hillfoot Road, Airdrie; and North session, Saturday 10 November at Daisy Park Community Centre, Cassells Street, Motherwell.
Some of the areas being discussed at the event will include:
Speakers on the day include North Lanarkshire Council’s new chief executive, Des Murray, who’ll outline the wider vision for North Lanarkshire’s communities; and Tracy Lennon, tenant participation manager, who will detail the opportunities available to tenants to get involved with shaping housing services.
There will also be an opportunity for delegates to participate in a ‘Question Time’ panel session with the local area housing managers and to hear from North Lanarkshire Federation of Tenants’ and Residents’ Associations.
The event is being sponsored by the council’s partners Mears and Saltire, who provide housing repair and maintenance services.
Tracy Lennon said: “I’m really looking forward to the new format of our tenant events. A new tenant participation team was set up this year and we’ve been working closely with tenants and housing partners to increase involvement in events like these.
“Our ‘Housing Matters’ sessions allow tenants and residents to talk with the people running and delivering housing services, to share their experiences, and provide an insight into how we’re planning for the future. There are so many ways we work with tenants, including tenant-led estate walkabouts; tower strategy sub group; social media; surveys and working groups.
“We’re working hard to deliver first class housing services and will continue to build on the excellent participation work already in place to ensure tenants have a key role in service delivery.”
