North Lanarkshire Council calls for views on new Local Housing Strategy
North Lanarkshire Council has called upon local residents to voice their views on its draft Local Housing Strategy.
The new Local Housing Strategy provides a vision and a plan for housing and housing-related services for the next five years.
The council’s vision is: “to make North Lanarkshire the place to live, through the provision of high-quality housing and support in sustainable communities, that enables people to thrive and prosper.”
The draft strategy has been shaped through extensive consultation and analysis of national and local evidence. North Lanarkshire Council has said that it is important that the strategy, and the priorities and actions contained within it, reflect the issues that matter most to our tenants, residents and communities.
The strategy identifies seven key priorities:
- To increase the supply of high-quality sustainable homes across tenures.
- The communities are vibrant, attractive and sustainable.
- To prevent and resolve homelessness effectively.
- To have a range of housing options and supports which promote independence, health and wellbeing.
- To tackle climate change and fuel poverty.
- The homes will be fit for the future.
- The council contributes to improving the quality and accessibility of the private rented sector.
The council has said that it is keen to hear the public’s views on the strategy. To have your say, please complete an online survey on the council’s website.
