North Lanarkshire Council’s energy team has been recognised as one of the best in Britain.The Local Homes team who provide heating solutions, repairs and energy saving tips for council tenants has been shortlisted for the Maintaining High Quality Homes award by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and Inside Housing magazine.

Des Murray, head of housing property, said: “I am delighted our energy team has been nominated for this prestigious award as it recognises their work in helping combat fuel poverty across North Lanarkshire. We provide an outstanding service with a focus on delivering modern heating and energy solutions and supports so people have warm and fuel efficient homes to live in.”The awards, which received more than 250 entries from across the UK, recognise outstanding work by housing organisations to improve the lives of people in their communities.
CIH interim chief executive, Gavin Smart, said: “The UK Housing Awards recognise the great work being done by housing organisations across the industry. We hope the achievements of our finalists will inspire others as they aim to provide the best possible services for residents and communities.”

The winners will be revealed at a ceremony in London on 21 April.
