North Lanarkshire Tenants’ Conference set for welcome return
Tenants from across North Lanarkshire are preparing to gather together on Saturday 26 November at Airdrie Academy for the return of the annual Tenants’ Conference.
This year’s theme is ‘Connecting Communities’ and after a three-year spell where the conference couldn’t take place in person, now is the time for local communities and tenants to come together.
Some of the topics being discussed include the cost-of-living crisis, North Lanarkshire Council’s supply of new council homes and home energy.
The conference runs from 9am until 2pm. On the day, there will be interactive presentations, opportunities to give your views and speak to housing staff and the ever-popular marketplace is back, bigger and better than ever with stalls, information and giveaways.
Book your place by emailing TenantParticipation@northlan.gov.uk or by calling 01698 302565.
Councillor Heather Brannan-McVey, housing convener, said: “I’m delighted that for the first time in three years the hugely popular tenants’ conference is back. It will be great to meet up in person and have an opportunity to talk face-to-face about some of the key issues facing people and our communities at this time.
“Our tenant participation team and tenants didn’t stop working during the pandemic, they adapted how they communicated and continued to work together, making decisions to take important work forward. And I hope that many of the new members participating in housing services will now take the opportunity to meet in person.
“I would encourage tenants to come along, share your views, help improve local services and meet other tenants. You’ll also take home some excellent advice about how you can help keep your home warm and you’ll be able to meet and hear about the support on offer from a range of other local organisations. I’m looking forward to being there and hope you’ll join me.”
A free buffet lunch will be provided and attendees will be entered into a prize draw.
