Chris Crockett
It is with great sadness that Link Group has announced the passing of Chris Crockett, a founding member of Link’s Tenant Scrutiny Panel.
Chris passed away on Sunday, 12 January 2025.
Chris was instrumental in establishing Link’s Tenant Scrutiny Panel in 2012, playing a key role in several scrutiny inspections of Link’s services, including gas servicing, asset planning and landscaping. His contributions led to meaningful improvements in the lives of all Link tenants.
Link Group chief executive Jon Turner added: “On behalf of Link, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Chris’s family and friends.
“His contributions to the Tenant Scrutiny Panel have left a lasting legacy, and he will be greatly missed.”
Chris was a kind, humorous, and determined individual, who never allowed his blindness to limit his aspirations. He dedicated his life to enhancing accessibility and awareness for the visually impaired, leaving an enduring impact on those around him.
Chris played a crucial role in designing the unique shape and edge markings of the £1 coin, making it easily identifiable to the visually impaired, and contributed to the development of underfoot dimples at traffic light crossings to enhance safety.
Tenant Scrutiny Panel chairperson Lindsay Anderson said: “Chris was a highly valued member of the panel. He contributed to every aspect of the panel’s activities.
“His lived experience of the difficulties faced by tenants with physical disabilities and sensory impairment helped the panel produce inclusive, considered reports.
“Chris never allowed his own disabilities to hold him back, providing an inspiration to all.”
