Obituary – Christine Murphy, Elderpark Housing Association director
It is with great sadness that the staff and committee of Elderpark Housing Association announce the death of Christine Murphy, the Association’s director.
Christine passed away peacefully on Saturday 16th July after a short illness. Christine had worked for the Association for 33 years, having first started in 1983 as senior finance officer. She became the Association’s director in 2005 and was a committed and dedicated employee, working closely with the management committee, senior management team and staff until her recent illness.
Christine also served with the Pension’s Trust as vice chair and in recent years as chair. Among her other work she was a powerhouse behind setting up the Glasgow and West of Scotland Finance Forum, which she chaired for many years. As part of these duties she attended many conferences where she worked hard and also played hard.
She was a trainer with SHARE for a number of years and did voluntary work with the Disabled Drivers Association and Govan Community Council. She also helped out on a regular basis along with her family at a soup kitchen in Hamilton, as well as working for and donating to various charities.
Christine will be sorely missed by all those who knew her and worked with her, and also those who partied with her over the years.
Christine’s funeral will be held at St Mary’s Church, Hamilton on Monday 25th July at 9.30 am and she will be taken to the Church at 6pm on Sunday 24th July.
