One week remaining for Excellence Awards nominations
With just a week left to apply for the CIH Scotland Excellence Awards, the organisation thought it was a good time to ask: why should you apply?
Let’s get the obvious one out of the way: celebrating and recognising excellence in our sector is really important. Identifying what we do well, and sharing how we do it, is a huge part of why the Awards exist.
So, beyond the shiny, new trophy to display in your office reception, what’s in it for you? We think the Excellence Awards provide an amazing learning opportunity for you and your team.
Writing an application is a perfect example. Being able to write in a way that influences and persuades is a really important skill for a career in housing. Bid writing, papers, reports; developing your ability to write concisely and clearly is hugely beneficial, so grasp the opportunity to practice with both hands.
Developing young talent is another great reason. Take the Bob Allan Young Achiever Award, just think about the boost to career confidence that a nomination would be for a young person in your team. Maybe tomorrow’s leaders are just waiting for that vote of confidence!
Most of all it’s an opportunity to take a step back and assess your work. Critically assessing your own work can help you weed out the bits that don’t work, and double down on the bits that do. And, by finding the best elements of your work, you’ll be most of the way towards a great application!
You’ve got until Friday 8 September to apply for the CIH Scotland Excellence Awards. Find out more information at http://www.cih.org/excellenceawards.
