Orkney tenant participation survey seeks to gather views on engagement

Tenants, applicants for council housing and other housing stakeholders are being asked to help feedback on Orkney Islands Council’s current approach to tenant participation and engagement.

The survey, which is anonymous, will help to determine if the current engagement set up is working well or, if improvements are required.

Tenant participation provides tenants with the opportunity to work with their landlord to improve Housing Services. Effective tenant participation means that tenants and other stakeholders are informed and empowered to share their views. Tenant feedback is considered when making decisions relating to housing services and feedback from tenants can lead to positive changes.

The council has a Tenant Participation Strategy which is a plan that outlines the approach to tenant participation and how engagement is carried out with Council tenants, along with other service users. Our current key priorities relating to tenant participation are; sharing information, engaging, consulting and developing. The Council would like feedback on the way we approach these aims.

OIC Tenant Participation Officer, Claire Pritchard, said: “We are currently reviewing our Tenant Participation Strategy and as a part of this, we are giving you the chance to complete a survey. Housing Services would like to hear your feedback on our current Strategy, and our approach to tenant participation. Any feedback we receive will be used to influence changes or improvements that need to be made to our Strategy and the way we engage with you.”

You can access the online survey here.

The survey closes on Monday 9 September.
