Osprey reports positive year as it celebrates Scottish Housing Day
The chairman of Osprey Housing (OH) has highlighted a year of significant development activity that will mean the organisation reaches its 2021 new build target across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire well ahead of schedule.
Speaking at the housing association’s AGM yesterday, held to coincide with Scottish Housing Day, Bill Chapman also reported a healthy financial position with the value of housing properties up £7 million to stand at £86m.
He said: “For an organisation of our size, reaching a target of 250 new homes by 2021 should be regarded as a major achievement and one of which we will be justifiably proud.
“During the last year alone we have delivered 133 quality new homes, we are currently on site at a development in Peterhead and have just received planning permission for 43 new homes in Stonehaven.”
OH is part of the Osprey Housing Group, which also includes subsidiaries Osprey Housing Moray (OHM) and Osprey Initiatives Limited (OIL). Mr Chapman also reported that both subsidiaries had made a positive impact on group financial results with overall turnover up by 8% to £9.2m.
He added: “The group results are very pleasing with Osprey Initiatives in particular resilient enough to cope with the ongoing challenges of the downturn in the Aberdeen market.”
Mr Chapman also stressed the importance of the group’s positive relationships with both its tenants and other key stakeholders. The last year had seen a new approach to rent consultations, in conjunction with the tenant’s association, which he described as the most comprehensive ever undertaken.
He concluded: “Our success is in no small measure down to an impressive staff team who help the organisation remain agile, responsive and effective. Going forward I am confident we will remain progressive and innovative delivering high quality housing and high performing services.”
