Osprey staff raise funds for Aberdeen Cyrenians with charity sleepout
Five members of staff from Osprey Housing have taken part in a charity sleepout to raise awareness of homelessness in Aberdeen.
The organised sleepout aimed to raise funds for local homeless charity Aberdeen Cyrenians and to highlight the issue of rough sleeping in the city.
Mhorag Dick, one of the Osprey team members involved in the sleepout, said: “This is a charity, which helps tackle homelessness and it’s close to our hearts. We were determined to do what we could to raise awareness of this issue in the area.
“We were out for one night only and it made us realise how difficult it must be for people without a roof over their heads. This is such a worthwhile cause and we were determined to make a contribution to it.”
Cyrenians CEO, Mike Burns, said: “We are really grateful to the team from Osprey Housing who braved the freezing temperatures and uncomfortable conditions at this year’s Sleepout event to raise such a fantastic amount. It’s only with the support of individuals and organisations such as Osprey that we are able to ensure that those affected by homelessness in Aberdeen get the help they need.”
The Osprey team managed to raise over £1,300 from the event, which was marking the charity’s 50th anniversary of supporting homeless people in Aberdeen.
Osprey chief executive, Glenn Adcook, said: “I’ve had some fantastic feedback from the organisers about the Osprey team’s energy, enthusiasm and commitment and all of us involved with Osprey are immensely proud of their efforts. Well done to the team and all those who supported them for raising such an impressive total.”
The event is on course to raise a total of £11,500.
