Partick Housing Association embraces the festival spirit

PHA-community-026Following the success of 2014’s Community Festival in Partick Burgh Hall, this year Partick Housing Association decided to take things outdoors to Mansfield Park where the event was held as part of the West End Festival with live music, come & try sessions and arts and crafts.

Samba Caramba were the first on stage, and were followed by a line up of talented and diverse performers including; The Shiverin’ Sheiks, Maryhill Integration Network Dancers, Sporran to be Wild and a Flamenco dance group. The sound of music throughout the day drew in curious passers-by and more than 300 visitors were kept entertained with the variety of stalls and activities that made up the festival.

Mansfield Park was a hive of activity including: free yoga taster sessions from Yoga Healing Glasgow, jewellery making workshops, free beginner skateboarding lessons and a skate boarding competition from Clanskates, face-painting and nail art, make your own fun foam hat workshops, free bike service checks from Dr Bike, activities from the RSPB, Glasgow Wood Recycling workshop to make a mini wooden planter and much more.

There was also a raffle with fantastic prizes donated by some of Partick HA’s contractors; Carrillion, Cruden, MAST Architects, Coltart Earley Architecture and McTaggart Construction.

Everyone was welcome at the special event which was part of Partick Housing Association’s 40th anniversary celebrations. The weather stayed dry as groups of friends, families and neighbours came along and enjoyed a great free day out in the heart of Partick.
