Partick Housing Association hosts successful Community Festival
Partick Housing Association attracted over 350 visitors to Mansfield Park for this year’s Partick Community Festival.
With the sunshine splitting the skies for the most part, people were entertained by a diverse programme of musicians and dancers.
First on stage were Up Jumped Brass Band followed by Craichte Leis playing traditional Scottish music. Then a troupe of multicultural dancers provided a diverse range of dances including Persian, Flamenco and Samba. Covers band Big Duffy and the Goods were next performing hits by The Doobie Brothers, The Rolling Stones and The Beetles, among others. The Partick Monkeys finished off the day with some rollicking SKA music.
There were bouncy castles for younger children, jewellery making, face-painting, balloon modelling, information stalls and lots more. Come and try sessions included Clanskates providing skateboarding lessons, Any Time Fitness offering opportunities to get fit and a Glasgow Wood Recycling workshop.
There was also a raffle with fantastic prizes donated by Partick Housing Association’s main contractor Carillion.
Event organiser Viki McCormick said: “The event created a great atmosphere and there was a real sense of community spirit. There was something for everyone to enjoy with a diverse range of entertainment, come & try sessions and workshops. All in all, a great free family day out in the heart of Partick.”
