The Tenants Information Service (TIS) has appointed Pedro Cameron as its new tenant participation and engagement manager.

The appointment marks a new chapter for TIS and reinforces its commitment to provide the very best advice, support, and training services and works to ensure that tenant participation, community development, and engagement practices remain high on the national agenda.

Pedro joins the TIS team from Housing Options Scotland (HOS) where he spent eight years in various roles, most recently head of engagement, where he focused on improving the lives of disabled people, older people, and members of the Armed Forces community, across all tenures of housing.

Throughout his career, Pedro has championed equality, diversity, and inclusion which is evidenced in his work as co-creator and co-host of the ‘Equality in Housing’ podcast delivered in partnership with the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE), which offers insights and experiences into the unique challenges faced by underrepresented groups. The podcast won the inaugural Marion Gibbs Award at the CIH Scotland Awards in 2023.

On his appointment, Pedro said: “I am delighted to be given this opportunity to work in a new aspect of the Scottish housing sector. In such a challenging climate, the work of TIS is vital in ensuring the voices of tenants are listened to and are meaningfully involved in the delivery of housing and wider community services.

“Listening to the views of tenants is fundamental to the success of social housing organisations and I am looking forward to getting out there and hearing what our members have to say.”

As tenant participation and engagement manager, Pedro joins the core team at TIS, based in Glasgow, and will focus on supporting tenants and housing organisations to develop effective, tenant participation, community development, and scrutiny projects.

Ilene Campbell, chief executive at TIS, said: “Pedro is an important part of the TIS team and will play a key role in growing the organisation and building upon our reputation for delivering high-quality services throughout the sector.

“I have no doubt that Pedro’s skills, experience, and enthusiasm will prove incredibly valuable as we move forward. The team and I are looking forward to working alongside him.”
