Kinross-based Lily Finch has been given £1,000 from Persimmon North Scotland to support her international taekwondo ambitions.

10-year-old Lily Finch from Kinross has been turning heads around the world with her Taekwondo skills and has scooped up various world titles over the last two years.

After moving into a new home with her family at Persimmon’s Weavers Gait development in January 2024, Lily wrote to Persimmon North Scotland’s managing director to say how much she liked the house and to tell the home-building boss about her Taekwondo ambitions.

Despite being only 10 years old, Lily has been around the world representing Scotland and has won a number of gold medals, including at the World Patterns Championships and has often gone head-to-head with much older competitors.

Managing director James MacKay got in touch with Lily’s parents to arrange to donate £1,000 to ensure Lily can continue to travel to international events and compete against the best in the world.

Lily is set to be selected for events in London, Dublin, the Netherlands and Barcelona over the next year and as an under-21 athlete, Lily doesn’t qualify for any funding and relies on donations to ensure she can attend top level international competitions.

Mr MacKay said: “I was delighted to receive Lily’s letter and hear about how much she likes her new home and her brilliant taekwondo successes so far.

“At just 10 years old, Lily is an inspiration and we’re delighted to support her with this donation. We’re all looking forward to seeing her continue to compete at the highest level and wish her the best of luck for the future.”

Lily’s mum, Pamela Finch, added: “We are so proud of Lily, she trains extremely hard and to see her represent her country and hold her own against such strong international competitors is fantastic.

“Her determination is immense but to succeed in any sport requires significant financial investment, so we are incredibly grateful to Persimmon Homes for their sponsorship and look forward to sharing Lily’s future successes.”
