Persimmon Homes donation secures new sports kits for Stirling High School
Pupils at Stirling High School are sporting brand new kits thanks to a £4,000 donation from Persimmon Homes.
Students and staff at the school were delighted after being announced as one of Persimmon’s Community Champions – banking them a £4,000 donation which they have used to purchase new sports kits and fund new equipment for the school’s football and netball teams.
The donation follows a visit to the school from former European and Commonwealth gymnastics champion Dan Purvis, which was arranged by Persimmon through the homebuilder’s partnership with Team GB.
Following the visit, staff and students applied to Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme, which supports charities and good causes in the areas the company operates in. The programme has seen more than £360,000 donated across Scotland in the last five years.
Colin MacPherson, PE teacher at Stirling High School, said: “The generous support from Persimmon Homes will give our teams the ‘feel good’ factor starting next season’s games with new strips. The donation will also support all pupils across the school with new PE and extracurricular sports equipment.”
Laura Still, Persimmon East Scotland sales director, said: “We were delighted to visit Stirling High School with Team GB athlete Dan Purvis last year and it was clear just how much enthusiasm there is for sport throughout the school.
“Our Community Champions scheme is all about supporting the areas we operate in and I’m delighted we’re able to help fund new strips and equipment for the school with this donation, which I hope will help staff with the costs of running their fantastic sports clubs.”
