Persimmon Homes proposes 222-home Crieff housing development
Persimmon Homes has put forth a proposal for a new housing development in Crieff that could significantly boost the local economy.
The project, pending approval from Perth and Kinross Council, is projected to inject millions of pounds into the local community and generate over 160 jobs.
The blueprint outlines the construction of 222 homes, with 55 of these earmarked for a housing association to support local residents. The housing types are diverse, encompassing two-bedroom terraces to five-bedroom detached houses. The designs cater to the local housing market’s demands and prioritise energy efficiency to promote a greener future.
Incorporating solar panels and electric vehicle charging points as optional features in the new homes, Persimmon is set on reducing carbon emissions and aiding homeowners in lowering their utility bills. The scheme also includes the development of play parks and open public spaces, enhancing the locality’s appeal. A new landscaped woodland path along the eastern boundary is also in the plan.
The investment in Crieff would also see Persimmon make a £1.6 million contribution to support the local primary and secondary schools. It is estimated that the development would generate approximately 80 construction-related jobs annually and create 88 additional jobs in services and other local firms.
Robert Patrick, Persimmon North Scotland land director, said: “We’re really pleased to be bringing forward exciting proposals for Crieff, which will deliver much-needed, high quality new homes, create jobs and see a significant investment made in improving the local community.
“Nearly half of our customers are first-time buyers and with the average price of our homes 16% below the average price of a new build in Scotland, we’re proud to be opening the door to home ownership for more families.
“We’ve also recently had our five-star status renewed by the Home Builders Federation – showing our commitment to delivering the highest standards for our customers.
“If the application is approved, we’ll continue working closely with local residents to ensure this investment leaves a positive, lasting legacy for the Crieff community.”
