Perth and Kinross home retrofit one-stop shop workshop to be held in May

Perth and Kinross Council is hosting two workshops in May to provide householders and landlords with advice about retrofitting energy saving measures and connecting them with qualified contractors.

The Home Retrofit One-Stop Shop Workshops will take place at the Dewars Centre, Perth on Tuesday, 28th May.

The morning workshop will engage with local suppliers, builders, installers and experts learn about the retrofit market and learn how a retrofit one-stop-shop could help to realize new commercial opportunities.

The afternoon workshop will engage with advocacy groups, including community groups, anti-poverty groups and climate groups to give their views on how to develop the new model to ensure it best meets community needs.

Parity Projects’ Russell Smith said: “The workshop is the first chance for local businesses, installers, and construction experts to get involved. We are working together with Perth and Kinross Council to develop a business plan for a retrofit support service for homeowners that can accelerate the pace of retrofit for all homes in the region.” 

The HEAT Project is a local expert service providing energy advice across Perth and Kinross, The HEAT Project Manager, Martin Mathers said: “Improving house energy efficiency is becoming ever more important for householders. We are working closely with the PKC Revitalising Homes Project to help develop a retrofit model and create a knowledge hub to support homeowners tenants and private and social landlords to easily find high quality installers of insulation, small scale renewables etc., and access to information and knowledge to help them make informed choices most appropriate for different types of housing.”

This workshop will gather experts, local businesses and advocacy and community organisations to start to develop a retrofit model to support householders on their journey to warmer, healthier and low-carbon homes.

The workshop includes two sessions:

  • 9:30 – 13:00 - The businesses workshop.
  • 14:00-17:00 -The advocacy groups workshop
