Perth council house developments get underway this month
Two new state-of-the-art housing developments by CCG (Scotland) Ltd for Perth and Kinross Council are to get underway in Perth this month.
Set for completion in spring 2017, one site at Nimmo Avenue in the north of the city will be transformed into 10 one-bedroom flats and cottages, half of which will be fully wheelchair accessible. A further eight one-bedroom cottage flats will be built on a former garage site on Cairns Crescent.
Each of the developments will be delivered using ‘Off-Site’ methods of construction, utilising a timber system that is designed and manufactured at CCG’s headquarters in Cambuslang. This method of construction is highly sustainable and will ensure enhanced energy savings for the future occupants.
Councillor Dave Doogan, convener of housing and health, said: “These new build projects are part of the Council’s affordable house building programme which has already delivered around 200 new Council homes in the last three years. New properties have been constructed in towns and settlements right across the region, including Methven, Scone, Alyth, Inchture, Blairgowrie, Auchterarder, Balbeggie, Rattray and Perth, and many more are in the pipeline.
“These new high-quality houses and flats will provide accommodation to new tenants with a range of accommodation needs, and will transform the lives of the people who live in them. The investment will also make a significant contribution to the development and vibrancy of the local community.”
“All of these new properties will be built to the highest standard in an area where there is a shortage of affordable housing. We look forward to working with CCG to deliver these new homes for people in housing need.”
Calum Murray, director of CCG (Scotland) Ltd, added: “It is great to see these new projects get underway in Perth. Every year we’re continuing to expand the geographical spread of our business and this project is particularly exciting as we look to widen the scope of our residential developments north of the central belt.
“As mentioned, the use of our timber frame system will ensure that the future occupants will benefit from enhanced energy savings, whilst fewer vehicle movements and a quicker build programme, due to the level of work completed off site, will reduce the impact of the projects on the local communities.
“We look forward to working with Perth & Kinross Council to further develop our business proposition across this beautiful part of the country.”
