Perth sheltered housing revamp completed
The works involved the construction of a new glazed sun-room, as well as refurbishments to the communal lounge.
The central courtyard was fully redesigned and landscaped with new exterior lighting, raised planters, seating areas, non-slip paving and astro turf surfaces. A new pergola and patio area was also creating during the works.
Other upgrades included a new assisted bathing facility, updated walls and flooring, and upgraded communal lighting and signage.
The new designs are aimed at helping those with dementia and to make the circulation areas brighter, safer and more comfortable to move about in.
Perth and Kinross Council’s housing and communities convener, Cllr Peter Barrett, said: “The refurbished Carpenter Court really looks fantastic. I’d like to thank all the tenants for their patience while the work was carried out, but as everyone can see it was worth waiting for. I’m delighted that the council was able to make this significant investment to enhance the lives of all the people who live at Carpenter Court, and for future tenants.
“There has been some great inter-generational working between residents and Perth High School pupils planting out the raised beds in the fantastic new garden area. All the residents told me what a difference there was and how much more welcoming the new lounge and conservatory are. Even the hallways are much brighter which makes a big difference in encouraging residents to get together and socialise.”
