Picnic & Pick fun day in Partick
Partick & Thornwood Action Group (PTAG) hosted their first family event with generous support from Partick Housing Association (PHA), Keep Scotland Beautiful, Glasgow City Council’s new Environmental Task Force and the local Morrisons supermarket.
On a day of glorious sunshine, the ‘Picnic & Pick’ family event was a great success. Young families helped clean up two local parks, wee ones got their faces painted, played some fun games and then settled down for a well-earned picnic.
Elaine Docherty, PHA development assistant, said: “This event demonstrated that there are plenty of people who are keen to ensure that the local area is made a nicer, cleaner place to live. The energy and enthusiasm from the young families and PTAG volunteers who participated was brilliant, although I don’t think I’ll rush to be inside a dog costume on such a hot day again.”
PTAG have lots of other activities coming up. The next litter picks are on Monday 13 June at 5.30pm and on Sunday 26 June at 10am. To get involved or simply find out a little bit more about how you can spruce up your own area please visit the group’s Facebook page, email them or visit their website.
