Places for People Scotland kicks off Christmas in Craigmillar
Local MP Tommy Sheppard joined the Craigmillar community to switch on the local Christmas lights at an event organised by Places for People Scotland.
In addition to their constituency MP, local residents were joined by Santa Claus himself who arrived with his famous sleigh and Mrs Claus.
Places for People Scotland was also supported by contractors and community partners, including local supermarkets who kindly donated selection boxes and The Mission Café who donated delicious food.
The housing provider colleagues have been busy fundraising for a local gift fund to help make sure local children receive a gift this year.
Ciara Toland from Places for People Scotland said: “Christmas is a time for the whole community to come together and share in some of the festive cheer after what has been an undoubtedly challenging year.
“We believe that coming together to celebrate and have a bit of fun is a vital element of community cohesion and inclusion.
“I want to thank local leaders and our generous partners from across Craigmillar for supporting this fantastic event, which has brought a little bit of the magic of Christmas to the lives of many people.”
One of the highlights of the evening was the heart-warming singing by children from Haystack Nursery, who joined the other local children in meeting Santa and making a few Christmas requests.
