Plans emerge for over 280 new Arbroath homes
Housebuilder Persimmon has lodged the next stage of its bid to create 287 new homes on the edge of Arbroath.
The development at Crudie Acres on East Muirlands Road is allocated for around 230 homes in the proposed Angus local plan. Persimmon says it believes the area is capable of accommodating the 287 homes applied for.
The firm’s intention is to develop the site in two phases, with 100 houses being built in the next five years.
The housebuilder’s supporting statement said: “The proposed development constitutes a logical extension to the existing settlement to the south and will not appear incongruous or out of scale in terms of surrounding views.”
Access is proposed via two access points onto East Muirlands Road, with a SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage System) being developed to include two separate basins at low points on the site.
Persimmon added: “The development will be distinctive, safe and pleasant, welcoming, adaptable, resource efficient and easy to move around as per the required qualities of successful places cited in designing streets.”
Councillors will consider the application in due course.
