Plans submitted for 23 new Ravenscraig homes
A planning application has been put forward for 23 new homes in Ravenscraig consisting of cottage flats, terraced houses, and semi-detached houses.
The proposal at the junction of New Craig Road and Prospect Hill Road is mindful of the adjacent completed housing development and utilises vehicular access to the site that is already completed on site.
The proposal also incorporates key features that will add to the wellbeing of residents and the natural environment, these include:
- Active transport routes via wide pedestrian footpaths and proposed cycle routes into the development off the main road.
- Grass/Meadow to the west of the site to improve inhabitants well being and also provide essential link and buffer to the South Calder Park beyond the
proposed site to the west. - Private gardens are provided to all housing units to ensure amenity to all residents.
- Shared public amenity spaces are provided within the proposed development.
- The individual houses and flats are designed to Housing for Varying Needs guidelines to ensure a suitable and comfortable dwelling for all.
- Over 10% of the accommodation has been designed to accommodate full wheelchair accessibility.
In the application the project architects, McLaren, Murdoch and Hamilton stated: “The proposed housing will provide for family and individuals with differing needs and circumstances.
“The scale and mass of the development is in keeping with the local typology and will help build a new and vibrant community within the area.
“Given the design considerations, requirement for a variety of housing and planning history of the site, we believe our proposals as set out within this documentation delivers these requirements whilst enhancing the local architecture, character and community of the area and we would therefore respectfully request that you determine our application for approval.”
The proposal notes that a total of 49 parking spaces will be included in the development of which 6 will be wheelchair-accessible spaces.
