Plans submitted for 80 new homes in Balgonie
Glenrothes-based Atmore Easy Living Development (AELD) Ltd has submitted plans to Fife Council to build 80 new homes in Balgonie.
The plans concern land north of Queen’s Meadow.
A mix of two, three and four-bedroom semidetached and detached bungalows is planned. Also proposed is a mix of three, four and five bedroom semi-detached and detached two-storey homes, as well as eight affordable houses.
The developer said: “The emphasis is to create a new a development which will have a sense of place and identity and which will be distinctive, welcoming, safe and pleasant and easy to move around, while also seen as integrating with the existing settlement.”
The initial proposal had 74 houses, however a “strong market demand” for smaller houses led the firm to expand the plans, The Courier reports.
A public consultation earlier last year revealed concerns about the possible impact on local services and infrastructure as the new homes would boost the village’s population of around 1,000. The potential increase in traffic was also mentioned.
AELD said it fully recognised and understood that increased traffic is an issue of concern and it would look at measures to lessen the impact.
