Port of Leith Housing Association launches new social enterprise
Port of Leith Housing Association (PoLHA) has unveiled plans to launch a new social enterprise within its group.
Set up as a Community Interest Company (CIC), Quay Community Improvements will launch with stair cleaning services in late 2016.
The company is founded on the principle that profits will be ploughed back into physical, social and economic regeneration opportunities in Leith and surrounding areas.
Margaret O’Connor, chair of the PoLHA board, said: “This new social enterprise allows us to extend our services and benefit further the communities we already serve.”
David Welsh, chair of the CIC board, said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to be involved in a company that will contribute so positively to the wider regeneration of my local area.”
