Product Spotlight - Local company shortlisted for industry ‘Oscar’
Dessian Products Ltd, which has a base on Wardpark Industrial Estate in Cumbernauld, has been nominated as a finalist for the much coveted Glass and Glazing Industry ‘Fabricator of the Year’ award at this month’s G-Awards.
Managing Director Nigel Bothwell said: “This is great for Dessian and all our employees, and recognises exemplary quality and customer service. Dessian has a longstanding reputation for quality workmanship which is attributable to our commitment to quality, our in-house engineering team, our experienced and highly trained workforce and our industry experience and expertise.”
Dessian also celebrates its 30th anniversary in December, so being shortlisted for what is perhaps the most prestigious award at the awards night is a fantastic anniversary achievement.
General Manager at Dessian Scotland, John McDermott said: “It was REHAU who encouraged us to enter the G15 Awards. On our first attempt at entering for this award we are absolutely delighted to be nominated as one of three finalists in this category.”
The company measures customer satisfaction through quarterly surveys and, in recent surveys, 96% of customers said they would recommend Dessian to other businesses.
In just three years turnover has increased by more than 50% and major investments have been made in machinery, infrastructure, transport and staff, with more than 130 people now working for Dessian across both Belfast and Cumbernauld sites. The company is a truly national operation servicing both the UK and Irish markets.
Winner of the ‘Most Improved Company’ award from Business Improvement Through Environmental Solutions (BITES), Dessian is on course to achieve BS8555 Phase 3 for environmental management.
Nigel said, “We operate a mantra which says that we will always ‘do the right thing’ and that extends beyond how we treat our customers and suppliers to include our environmental management policies and our ongoing support for the local communities in which we operate.”
Supporting the local communities in which it operates is also seen as being a key corporate responsibility and is something that the company is very proud of. Initiatives this year include a ‘Giving Something Back’ programme encompassing a programme of events to raise funds for charity.
Nigel added, “Winning this award would be a great accolade for Dessian and the best birthday present I can think of.”
