This amazing gift reflected lots of hard work by the primary school pupils, generating a large amount of funds which Bethany is directing towards their Scotland-wide work of ending homelessness one person at a time.

Bethany’s Fundraising Manager Deborah-Rose McNeill attended a recent school assembly at Holy Family to hear about their achievements, receive their generous gift, meet some of the pupils and thank them for their kindness in person.

Speaking to the Head Teacher of the school, Colette Murray, the idea began with P4 teacher Richard Page sharing information with the children about homelessness. He suggested the class could “create a project to raise funds to help homeless people”, in line with the school aiming to “create projects linked to real-life issues.”

Pupils Lucas, Mary-Jane and Adilyn had great ideas of how to best engage customers in fundraising towards the work of Bethany.

“All the class worked together to think of ideas… things they could do or sell.”

Murray repeated, “I am really proud of them all, and think they have done an amazing job. They have been totally focused on helping [Bethany Christian Trust] to help other people.”

Bethany supports around 7,000 people each year with wide-ranging work: housing and support, crisis intervention and homelessness prevention. This donation will help relieve suffering and meet the long-term needs of vulnerable people and those facing homelessness.
