The Association’s youth homelessness service received a highly commended award, in the Homelessness Project of the Year category, at the showpiece event in front of 1,300 guests.

Working with 53 vulnerable young people aged 16-25, the service provides suitable, secure accommodation and offers 24/7 support.

Young people are helped with maximising their income, personal development and health and wellbeing.

Sharon Freeman, housing support manager at Queens Cross, was delighted to see the service recognised: “I am proud that the Queens Cross youth homelessness team has received recognition at the recent UK housing awards.

“It demonstrates the success of the team in providing homes to vulnerable young people and giving the support needed to make their homes a success.”

The team also works towards reducing repeat homelessness. In the 25 years the service has been running, no young person has ever been evicted from their tenancy.

It supports young people into meaningful activities including work, training, volunteering and education.
