Unsung community heroes were given recognition at Queens Cross Housing Association’s second Pride of Queens Cross Awards last week.

The winners were announced in a ceremony held at the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor hotel as part of the Association’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

Those honoured ranged from young tenants who make a difference to their local neighbourhoods, to Association staff who’ve dedicated their life’s work to supporting the community.

Winners included tenant scrutiny group, the Tenants’ Improvement Club, for working together to improve the Association’s services, community stalwart Elizabeth Mount who has spent over 40 years improving the local environment and the Queens Cross East housing support team, for their dedication to supporting tenants with mental ill health.

The awards were supported by sponsorship, with community regeneration specialists Keepmoat who is currently delivering a multi-million pound investment project at the Association’s multi-storey properties in the Woodside area.

Association chief executive, Shona Stephen, said: “The event is a testament to the community pride we feel so strongly in Queens Cross.

“We’re extremely grateful to all of our finalists, winners and those who took the time to nominate. It was a great night with a brilliant atmosphere, and a fitting celebration for our 40th anniversary.”
