Queens Cross Housing Association’s Gala Day returns
Queens Cross Housing Association’s Gala Day is returning to north-west Glasgow this weekend.
The annual event at Firhill Sports Complex will take place from 12 noon on Saturday 18 August and will provide an array of entertainment, activities and stalls in what promises to be a fun day out for all the family.
Live music in the form of bagpipers and singers on the main stage will keep visitors entertained throughout the day. There will be prize bingo games and tug o’ war for any willing participants feeling strong.
Speaking ahead of the event, Queens Cross Board chair, Marilyn Clewes, said: “The Gala Day is one of the most important days in our calendar as it offers an opportunity to our residents to come together and celebrate what the local area has to offer.”
There will be funfair rides, a bouncy castle, face painting, space hoppers and much more to keep the kids amused. You can also try and ‘beat the goalie’ in one of several football challenges throughout the event.
Come and get your future told with a tarot card reading, win prizes in our tombola or put your chef’s hat on with biscuit making in just some of the many stalls that will on display at the event.
If you’re in need of some refreshment, you can try some of the delicious food on offer; from African, Chinese and Italian cuisine and healthy smoothies to the more traditional hot rolls, burgers and hot dogs.
The association hopes to build on last year’s success, which saw over 1,200 local people come along on the day event.
Marilyn, who’s also a local tenant, added: “The Association prides itself on the four communities it represents: Dundasvale, Hamiltonhill, Queens Cross and Woodside, and we’re excited about hosting a day which gives something back to our tenants.
“I can’t wait for to see all the activities and entertainment on offer.”
Queens Cross Gala Day will run from 12 – 4pm on Saturday 18 August at Firhill Sports Complex, Hopehill Rd, Glasgow, G20 7AL. The event is free and open to all.
