Regulator launches British Sign Language Plan
The Scottish Housing Regulator has launched a new plan which sets out its support and promotion of British Sign Language (BSL).
Unveiled on October 31, the plan will see the Regulator make its information more accessible to BSL users and have registered BSL/English interpreters available for meetings.
The Regulator also plans to carry out future thematic work to explore access to housing and homelessness services for BSL users.
A consultation on a draft plan was held by the Regulator in the summer, where organisations and individuals were invited to give feedback.
Susan Campbell, head of planning and performance, said: “We are delighted to launch this plan, which will help to ensure BSL users can easily access information about how we regulate and about their landlord.
“It’s important that all service users can access housing and homelessness services when they need them. So we will also look at how we can promote BSL to the landlords that we regulate.
“Thank you to everyone who gave us feedback on our draft plan and proposed actions. Your insight has been invaluable.”
A BSL video version of the plan is also available below.
