The revised EESSH technical guidance reflects the Scottish Government’s updated guidance and provides clarification for landlords on innovative technologies. It also clarifies that EESSH will replace element 35 of the Scottish Housing Quality Standard (SHQS), so from 1 January 2021 landlords will no longer need to demonstrate compliance with SHQS element 35.

The revised guidance also adds three further categories of anticipated exemptions, new technology, long term voids and unable to secure funding. A sample of the revised EESSH data template that each landlord will be asked to complete and submit to us by 31 May 2018 has also been published.

The update to the Charter technical guidance reflects findings from the Regulator’s recently published thematic report on Gas and Tenant Safety in Scottish Social Housing. Changes have been made changes to the guidance at indicator 15 on gas safety checks and recording.
