A new and wide-ranging programme of national thematic inquiries has been announced by the Scottish Housing Regulator.

The regulator’s thematic inquiries will examine how landlords deliver on repairs, gas safety, rent consultation, factoring, customer standards and complaints as well as their approach to delivering services in a way that is fair, open and accessible.

Christine Macleod, director of regulation, said: “Our thematic inquiries will help us to better understand performance in areas that tenants said are important, to share positive practice from the sector and to make recommendations to help landlords in their progress towards the standards and outcomes of the Scottish Social Housing Charter.”

The topics reflect the regulator’s earlier research into the priorities of tenants through its National Panel of Tenants and Service Users as well as performance information from landlords in their Annual Return on the Charter and its first National Report on the Scottish Social Housing Charter published this month.
