The Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) has welcomed the Commission on Housing and Wellbeing’s new report ‘A blueprint for Scotland’s future’.

Published this week, the report calls for a radical look at the future direction of housing policy in Scotland.

It lays out a challenging programme for housing and makes 18 priority recommendations which it says would begin to address the housing-related poverty and environmental challenges currently facing Scotland.

Kay Blair, SHR chair, said: “We welcome the Commission’s report and recognise the important role good housing plays to the health and wellbeing of communities. We will carefully consider the Commission’s report and how it may impact on our work to safeguard and promote the interests of tenants and others who use the services of social landlords.”

Responding to the report yesterday, Philip Hogg, chief executive of Homes for Scotland, said the importance of housing should rightly be in the spotlight.
