The event, which will help raise funds for charity and donations for Inverclyde Foodbank, has grabbed the attention of the local community and is expected to be a huge success with lots of activities, stalls and prizes to win.

Greenock Morton Community Trust will be in attendance from 3pm with kids being able to try and Beat the Goalie, and other coaching sessions and games being provided.

Director of Cloch Paul McVey urged the community to attend the fun filled event.

He said: “If the enthusiasm of the staff arranging the event, coupled with the generosity from our contractors, partners and other key agencies is anything to go by, this will be an excellent day.

“There will be something for everyone – kids will have the animal man show, face painting, bouncy castle, fun bus etc as well as the activities on offer from Greenock Morton; there will be tombolas for all and a more exclusive raffle for adults to enter with prizes including cinema tickets, restaurant vouchers, Morton tickets and signed ball, bottles and much more. Through donations we are able to offer a burger from the BBQ and Inverclyde Radio will be providing the sounds during the day.”

Promoting the theme for the day, Paul added: “We chose a superhero theme – this event will launch the Superhero Neighbour Award and we want people to nominate a neighbour who goes the extra mile and is a bit of a hero in their community or as a neighbour. Inverclyde is full of genuinely good people helping others and we want to see that rewarded – the nomination will be a reward in itself but in November we will be judging the winner of our award. This will also apply to young people too for a separate award. Forms will be available on the day.

“We are also asking for people to come along dressed as their own favourite superhero and this will be judged on the day – clearly kids will rise to the challenge but this is open to all – young and old.”

Cloch has tried as far as possible to make this a free event – with very generous donations and sponsors from a range of contractors and agencies. By contributing to raffles and tombolas, people will be making their own contribution and the association has asked if anyone has any donations for Inverclyde Foodbank, to bring them along on the day. All profits from the event will be donated to Cancer Research and The Beatson Cancer Charity.
