Residents invited to have their say on new housing developments in Garnock Valley
Residents and interested parties are being invited to have their say on the latest housing developments in the Garnock Valley.
A total of 14 new homes will be built across four sites at Laburnum Avenue, Beith, and Newhouse Drive, Kilbirnie.
The flatted blocks at the sites were demolished earlier this year after being identified for improvement as part of North Ayrshire Council’s Estate Based Regeneration Programme.
The £3m proposals – supported by over £1m Scottish Government Grant – will see seven modern, energy efficient new homes built in each town and will provide a mix of two-bedroom amenity bungalows and two-bedroom general needs homes.
Members of the public are invited to a consultation event being held on Tuesday 5 December, in Bridgend Community Centre, Kilbirnie, KA25 7DJ, from 4pm–6pm.
Interested parties will be able to view the final plans and ‘Meet the Builder’ for the developments. Connect Modular – who recently completed new council homes at Afton Court, Stevenston – have been appointed as the main construction contractor.
To book your place at the event, email developmentandstrategy@north-ayrshire.gov.uk or telephone 01294 324031.
The final plans are also available to view and comment on until Friday 8 December.
Councillor Tony Gurney, cabinet member for green environment and economy, said: “North Ayrshire Council has one of the most ambitious house-building programmes in the country and these two developments in Kilbirnie and Beith are an important part of our programme.
“This project is a chance to breathe new life into Laburnum Avenue and Newhouse Drive and will help to regenerate our communities.”
Work is currently scheduled to get under way on both sites in early 2024, with work taking approximately one year to complete.
