Residents revel in Chinese New Year celebrations
Residents in North West Glasgow went east for the evening as they came together to celebrate Chinese New Year.
The event, held by Queens Cross Housing Association, saw around 200 tenants take part in the festivities at Findlay Church, which incorporated a mix of Scottish and Chinese culture.
Visitors enjoyed an evening of traditional Chinese dance, a Scottish bagpipe show and ceilidh dancing, as well as a taste of oriental cuisine with an array of Chinese food and snacks.
The event in Woodside is in its second year, and is part of the association’s Sharing Lives, Sharing Spaces project – which was established to increase community engagement with the Chinese population in the area.
Shona Stephen, chief executive of the Association, said: “Following the success of last year’s event, we wanted to continue to promote engagement within our community.
“Through cultural events such as this, it can help bring our diverse community together and provide an opportunity for them to meet with friends and neighbours from all walks of life and share culture, language and experiences.”
