Retrofit Reimagined comes to Glasgow next month
Retrofit Reimagined is coming to Glasgow on Saturday 11th November.
It’s part of a nationwide festival run by the fantastic campaigning group CIVIC SQUARE who are based in Birmingham.
With inaction by government and the market on retrofit, and the UK in a climate emergency and cost of living crisis, Retrofit Reimagined asks one foundational question:
‘What if the climate transition and retrofit of our homes and streets were designed, owned and governed by the people who live there?’’
The Glasgow finale will be the conclusion of two months of events with previous days held in Birmingham, London and Bristol - which you can watch on Youtube here. Speakers have included Kate Rowarth, Kwajo Tweneboa, Rupert Read, Farzana Khan, Indy Johar and Immy Kaur and a host of collaborative community groups and radical activists.
Director of CIVIC SQUARE Immy Kaur, said: “We think it is both true that we can speak about the transformation of how we live with one another and the planet at a scale currently never done before - and be immersed in the pioneers demonstrating in small and big ways, tomorrow, today. Whether you’re thinking about the foundations of the next economy, or putting it into practice in the smallest most immediate ways in your neighbourhood, this Retrofit Reimagined 2023 festival season will have something for you to share and something for you to learn, and we’re so excited to welcome you.
“It is through the interconnections, bonds, flows and entanglements between these three dimensions — of land, material and people — that we present the next layer of enquiry to unpack together through this year’s Retrofit Reimagined 2023 festival season.”
Tickets for the Glasgow event can be found here.
