Councillors have backed a revised Housing Plan for Levenmouth which aims to address a number of issues and challenges going forward.

The plan highlights progress made on several fronts, while also reflecting the need for more affordable housing and family/specific needs housing across the area.

In terms of performance, more than 92% of tenants in the Levenmouth area are satisfied with the overall service provided, 86.6% are satisfied with the management of their neighbourhoods, and the same percentage say they think their rent is good value for money.

And the plan also underlines the role of the Housing Investment Programme and Fife Council’s intention to continue to invest in council houses, with investments including kitchens, central heating, bathrooms, roofs, rewiring, smoke detectors, secure door entry systems, structural works, electrical testing and external walls.

Moving forward, the Area Housing Plan aims to outline how the council will work with partners and local communities to improve housing and housing services in the area.

Councillor Colin Davidson, Levenmouth Area Committee convener, said: “Tenants and residents have told us their concerns and issues where they live and together we have identified what we can do to address these issues.

“We have looked at how well we are doing managing our homes to prioritise which services we need to improve.

“In Levenmouth over recent years, the council has delivered affordable housing, but we know there is an acute need for more council new build properties in this area.

“We’ve got several sites that we’re keen to get affordable housing into, and we’re actively pursuing that approach.”

The Area Lettings Plan for 2024-27 was also approved, setting out the stock profile, identifying where there is housing need and how Fife Council intends to improve the situation.

The Home Swap scheme, for example, continues to see increased number of households registering their interest in moving to more suitable properties, with 28 completed exchanges taking place last year.
