Richard Mahon becomes new board member of Ardenglen Housing Association
Ardenglen Housing Association has welcomed Richard Mahon as a new member of its Board of Management.
Mr Mahon is a finance professional and keen supporter of the housing association movement. He has over 10 years of experience covering audit, finance control, reporting and planning, most recently in finance teams for two large financial institutions.
He was introduced to members at Ardenglen’s recent AGM by chief executive Audrey Simpson.
Discussing his appointment, Audrey praised Richard’s willingness to serve the community and highlighted his skills which would be “invaluable” to the association.
Richard said: “I’m delighted to have joined Ardenglen’s Board and look forward to working with the Ardenglen team. I have always believed in social justice and the important role housing associations and housing co-operatives have in delivering this commitment. Having worked and lived in and around Glasgow I have seen at first hand the positive impact housing providers have had - not just in the building of new homes but in the deep-rooted commitment to supporting communities.”
Audrey said: “With great uncertainty around the financial climate it has never been more important to operate as efficiently and effectively as we can - an undertaking we have already given to our tenants. Richard’s financial skills will undoubtedly be of great value to the association.”
Maureen Cope MBE, chair of Ardenglen, said: “We welcome Richard to Ardenglen and feel sure his contribution will be significant in the important work we do.”
