River Clyde Homes clothing drive raises £500 for local schools
A children’s clothing drive organised by River Clyde Homes has raised £500 for local primary schools.
Residents descended on Broomhill Community Hub to bag a fashion bargain or two, raising £215 - which was matched by River Clyde Homes and boosted by a further donation to a £500 total.
The Gardens and Community Hub are managed by a local social enterprise which has no shareholders and invests all profits back into the business or into the local community.
The community event, organised by the River Clyde Homes’ Broomhilll Team, relied on generous donations of new and ‘gently worn’ children’s clothing and shoes from local people.
All items left at the end of the sale will be sorted to donate to Barnardos and for a further sale later in the year.
Elaine Cannon, service improvement manager at River Clyde Homes, said: “This community event is a great example of our commitment not just to provide housing but also to work towards our vision of ‘improving lives and places.
“Broomhill is a vibrant neighbourhood and we’re delighted to be a part of the community here and work with other community initiatives such as Broomhill Gardens and Community Hub to provide community events like this.”
