River Clyde Homes to host Broomhill jobs fair event
In the Broomhill area of Greenock, the £26 million regeneration programme is about more than just bricks and mortar.
As part of the community development and support programme, River Clyde Homes has organised a jobs fair on Saturday 26 August that aims to help local residents get back into training and employment.
The event is combined with family fun activities organised by The Bell Group and Greenock Morton for the whole community that includes: face painting, cupcake decorating and football fun.
A host of organisations are coming together to help residents of all ages to improve their prospects of gaining employment, including: West College Scotland, Greenock Morton, Inverclyde Council, The Trust, Department of Work & Pensions, Wise Group, Street League, RIG Arts and The Bell Group.
These experts will be able to provide information on gaining work experience, training, volunteering, apprenticeships and jobs opportunities as well as benefits advice.
Jillian Moffat, vice chair of River Clyde Homes Board, said: “This initiative is to be welcomed as a new Broomhill develops. It is a traditionally strong community and that strength can only build as the regeneration programme comes to completion. But it’s not just the bricks and mortar. We want to see Broomhill flourish as a successful and proud community and the creation of training and jobs opportunities will help develop a brighter future.”
On the back of the jobs fair, there are also family fun activities to keep the kids occupied as their parents discuss their future opportunities. While targeted at the Broomhill area, the event is open to anyone from across Inverclyde.
Jillian added: “We hope that many people will take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy the family events which, in themselves, offer a chance for the community to come together.”
The event takes place at The Mission Hall, Broomhill on Saturday 26 August, 11am – 3pm.
