Rubislaw Quarry flats appeal decision delayed
The Scottish Government will take at least another month to come to a decision on long-running plans to develop hundreds of flats at Aberdeen’s Rubislaw Quarry.
A proposal by Canadian real estate firm Carttera to develop 245 fully managed, one, two and three-bedroom apartments at the north side of the historic quarry was unanimously rejected by councillors earlier this year. A total of 470 letters of objection were received in regards to the development.
The rejection marked a second time councillors went against planning officers’ recommendations to approve plans for the site.
Amenities at Rubislaw View were to include a public bistro, state-of-the-art residents-only gym, underground parking (including electric vehicle charging points) and a publicly available car.
Carttera had lodged an appeal with the Scottish Government’s planning division, with an outcome expected to be shared yesterday.
But a spokesman confirmed the pandemic had delayed a visit to the former quarry and led to internal staff changes.
He said: “There were unscheduled delays in carrying out the unaccompanied site inspection due to the Aberdeen lockdown.
“The reporter does not expect his decision on this case to be ready for issue until late October or early November.”
